The Delta State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety across the state during the yuletide season. At a press briefing in Ughelli, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, unveiled a series of commendable security breakthroughs achieved by the command in recent weeks. Under the mandate of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, officers have intensified efforts to combat crime and guarantee that “Deltans must sleep with their two eyes closed.”

Highlighting a robust strategy, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) to ensure strict compliance with the ember months’ security directives. The results have been significant, with remarkable achievements recorded in Ughelli, Sapele, Ekpan, Warri, and surrounding areas.

A Toyota Camry linked to the drug distribution was also impounded, while the mastermind, “Obi God,” remains at large.

5. Kidnapped Victims Rescued in Abraka
A combined operation by police and local hunters in the Kokori-Samagidi bush led to the rescue of two kidnapped boys. The operation resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and the death of one suspect during a gunfight. Efforts to apprehend fleeing gang members are ongoing.
