The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the shocking death of Sunday Abidoye, a Nigerian man whose lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room at Creestar Hotel, Sagamu, just days after his return from the United States.

According to Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, the tragic incident was reported by the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Oluwole, on Wednesday.

“Detectives arrived at the scene to find the deceased’s body placed in a car outside the hotel, ready to be transported to the morgue by his family,” Odutola stated.

Jimoh Godday, the deceased’s brother, revealed the heartbreaking sequence of events.

“My brother returned to Nigeria on Saturday. When he didn’t respond to my calls on Monday, I went to the hotel to check on him. After knocking repeatedly with no response, I sought help from the manager and used a spare key to enter. That’s when we found his lifeless body,” Godday narrated.

Various medications and traditional medicines were reportedly discovered in the room, along with a liquid-like substance soaking the center of the bed.

A close friend, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, disclosed that he had accompanied the deceased the day before to purchase nine different medications following complaints of illness.

The police spokesperson confirmed that Abidoye’s body was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

“The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough probe,” Odutola said.

The police advised the public to avoid self-medication and to seek professional medical advice for health concerns.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding Sunday Abidoye’s death have sparked widespread reactions and speculation, with many calling for a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth.
