Akwa Ibom state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the coalition of YPP and APC against PDP ahead of the next week’s governorship election will not threaten the victory of its candidate in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Uyo on Thursday, the state Publicity Secretary of PDP Boronno Bassey said the coalition of the two parties against PDP remains a mere conspiracy that will not stop the PDP candidate pastor Umo Bassey Eno from winning the governorship seat next week.
The PDP spokesman while assessing the performance of PDP in the state during the Presidential and National Assembly elections last week he stated that the party won 90 percent of seats in the National Assembly.
He observed that elections in many units where APC was declared winner were inconclusive, adding that the party remains strong in the state.

“The beauty of democracy is to allow people to make their choice. Even with the result declared so far in Akwa Ibom, PDP won about 90 percent of the National Assembly seats in the state. It therefore means, Akwa Ibom people have higher preference for PDP.
“And for us as a political party, we see this communication of trust as a burden for us to keep our own side of the social contract so that the people who have been elected understand that the mandate which the people handed down to them places on them the concomitant responsibility of ensuring they allow the collective will of the people become their compass that leads them and find their engagement interface and representation while in office.
He assured the people that the PDP candidate pastor Umo Eno will win the governorship poll in the state as the most preferred and acceptable by the people.
