As part of its corporate social responsibilities to its host communities, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) has commissioned a 500KVA Generating Plant for Oviri-Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government area of Delta state, bringing an end to over 9years power blackout in the community.

Inaugurating the generating plant on Thursday 27th January, 2022, Chief Christopher Otobrise, a Senior Staff of the Community Relations Department of the company, emphasized the importance of electricity to the development of the economic life of a community.

He assured of the company’s support in the maintenance of the facility, adding that the community leadership should contact the contractor, Zelo Integrated Global Synergy LTD, that supplied the generator whenever there is a challenge with the facility.

Otobrise therefore, called for proper management plan for the plant and urged the community to allow the generator stand as a legacy project that could serve up to 5 years or 10yrs, so as to encourage the management of the company to do more.

Engr Ogweda commended the President General and his Exco and urged them to continue in the peace to get more benefits from NPDC.

He also thanked the contractor that handled the project for doing a standard job by going beyond specifications and adding things that were not in the original contractual agreement, saying that the project would stand the test of time.

Earlier in his address, the President General of the community, Chief John Ewenede JP said the occasion was historic as it had ended the problem of the over 9years of darkness in the community.

Ewenede commended NPDC for giving the community listening ears and Zelo Integrated Global Synergy Ltd for the integrity displayed in the course of executing the project by sticking to the brand requested by the community.

Chief Paul Agboroh, a retired Shell staff from the community, however, appealed to NPDC management to in due course, provide constant power supply to the community.

The project, according to the Managing Director, Zelo Integrated Global Synergy Ltd, Mr Emmanuel Okoro, was executed at the cost of 65m.

Okoro explained that the project was facilitated by Chalvon Ltd, who interfaced between Zelo Integrated Global Synergy Ltd, and NPDC for the speedy completion of the project and commended NPDC for the opportunity offered his company to execute the project.
