Delta State Police Command has confirmed the attack of a bullion van belonging to the United Bank of Africa (UBA).
The attack occurred on Thursday at about 10.45 a.m, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
A statement released on Thursday night by the police spokesman in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, said: “Policemen on UBA Special Escort from Warri to Asaba were ambushed by heavily armed hoodlums numbering about ten in two Sienna Vehicles along Ughelli/Ozoro Expressway, Otor-Owhe, while they were on their way to transport cash from Asaba to Warri.”

According to the statement, a policeman and the driver of the bullion van were injured during a gun duel, adding that “no life was lost but some of the hoodlums were fatally injured and were taken away by their gang members while the Bullion Van was recovered and taken to the Police station.”
“Further development will be communicated,” the police said.
DSP Bright Edafe added, “The incident is currently being investigated while a manhunt for the hoodlums is ongoing.”
