Fresh allegations have emerged against the Ughelli North Local Government Council in Delta State after a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ambassador Alex Tobore Agbah, alleged that truckloads of goods worth millions of naira belonging to him were impounded and the mobile phones of his wife and business manager seized.
The allegation comes days after Agbah accused the council of sealing his business premises in what he described as political victimisation over a 10,000-man march organised in support of the opposition party.

Agbah Raises Fresh Alarm Over Alleged Impoundment
Agbah expressed concern over the safety of his investments and the continued operation of his businesses following the latest incident.
In his earlier account, the NDC chieftain alleged that the sealing of his business premises followed the opposition party’s 10,000-man march. He claimed that his wife had been warned during the rally that he should be prepared to face consequences for his involvement in the protest.
Agbah maintained that the council’s stated reasons for sealing the premises, including alleged violations relating to electricity infrastructure and regulatory approvals, were unfounded.
He challenged the council to provide evidence that he had received prior notice of any alleged infractions, arguing that outstanding regulatory requirements could have been addressed without shutting down his business.
NDC Chieftain Alleges Seizure of Mobile Phones
In his latest account, Agbah alleged that he was subsequently asked to make a payment in connection with the earlier incident. However, the circumstances and details surrounding the alleged demand were not immediately established.
He also expressed concern over the arrival of two trailers at his premises, saying he was yet to establish the circumstances surrounding their presence.
The businessman specifically alleged that the mobile phones of his wife, Mrs Agbah, and his business manager were seized during the incident.
He raised particular concern over the reported seizure of his wife’s Samsung mobile phone and called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged action.
The latest claims have widened the dispute, moving beyond the sealing of the business premises to alleged interference with the movement of goods and the seizure of personal belongings.

Agbah Seeks Government, Security Agencies’ Intervention
The NDC chieftain appealed to the Delta State and Federal Governments, as well as relevant security agencies, to investigate the incidents and ensure that his commercial activities were not subjected to unlawful interference.
He also urged political actors and public office holders to prevent political disagreements from escalating into actions that could infringe on citizens’ rights and disrupt legitimate businesses.
In his earlier statement, Agbah had alleged threats to his life and property before and after the rally. He also claimed there had been an attempt to impound one of his trucks and set it ablaze over its branding.
He called on the Federal Government and human rights organisations to intervene, alleging that he was being targeted because of his membership of an opposition party.
Ughelli North Council’s Response Awaited
The allegations concerning the reported impoundment of the goods, the arrival of the two trailers and the seizure of the mobile phones had not been independently verified as of press time.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Media Aide to the Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, Mr Ekete Efe, were unsuccessful, as calls placed to his mobile telephone line were neither answered nor returned.
Consequently, the council’s account of the latest allegations could not be established at the time of filing this report.
