Musa said the college has eased admission pressure on the state College of Nursing Sciences in Birnin Kebbi, while creating employment opportunities and stimulating economic activities.

He disclosed that the pioneer students are currently taking examinations, with 80 candidates sitting for the National Diploma examination.

The provost added that preparations had been completed for the admission of the institution’s second batch, expressing confidence that the college would continue to accommodate more aspiring healthcare professionals.

According to him, the institution has attracted students from outside Kebbi State, including Imo, Enugu, Niger, Ogun and Kaduna States, reflecting growing interest in its academic programmes.

Facilities and Academic Standards

Musa said the college has qualified lecturers, well-equipped laboratories, a library and information and communication technology facilities to support teaching and learning.

He also commended the state government for providing essential infrastructure, including staff quarters, male and female hostels, and security arrangements to create a conducive environment for academic activities.

The provost reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and producing competent nursing and midwifery professionals to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state and other parts of the country.

He said the college would enforce discipline among students, particularly in observing dress codes and preventing examination malpractice.

Musa further praised Governor Idris for following the required procedures in establishing the institution, saying this has enabled the college to operate in accordance with its academic calendar.

However, he appealed to the state government to provide additional support through rural posting and teaching allowances, as well as the deployment of more security personnel to improve safety within the institution and its surrounding community.

He urged residents to support government initiatives aimed at expanding educational opportunities and strengthening the state’s healthcare workforce.

The college is expected to increase access to professional nursing and midwifery training while helping to address the demand for qualified healthcare workers in Kebbi State and beyond.
