Seedorf Returns To Management After Seven Years
The 50-year-old has signed a contract running until the end of 2027 as Corinthians battle to avoid relegation from the Brazilian top flight.
The club are currently 16th in the league standings, just one place above the relegation zone, with eight matches remaining in the season.
Seedorf replaces Fernando Diniz, the former interim coach of Brazil’s national team, who was dismissed last week following Corinthians’ run of seven consecutive league defeats.
The appointment marks Seedorf’s return to the dugout after his last managerial assignment with the Cameroon national team in 2019.
Corinthians Turn To Seedorf After Diniz’s Dismissal
Seedorf has previously managed several clubs, including Italian giants AC Milan, Chinese side Shenzhen FC and Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña.
However, those managerial spells yielded limited success, making the Corinthians appointment an opportunity for the Dutchman to rebuild his coaching reputation.
Reacting to his appointment, Seedorf described the role as both an honour and a major responsibility.
“Taking on this challenge is an honour, but also a huge responsibility. I am here to give my all and build a team that fights for every ball, every minute, every victory,” he said.
The new coach inherits a Corinthians squad that includes former Manchester United players Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard.

Seedorf Faces Relegation Battle At Corinthians
Seedorf takes charge at a critical stage of the Brazilian league campaign, with Corinthians needing improved results to secure their top-flight status.
The club’s position just above the relegation zone leaves little room for further setbacks, particularly following their recent losing run.
His immediate challenge will be to improve the team’s performances, restore confidence and collect enough points to move away from relegation danger.
Corinthians will be counting on his experience as a former elite player and manager to help stabilise the team during the closing stages of the season.
Seedorf’s Illustrious Champions League Career
Seedorf retired from professional football in 2014 after an illustrious playing career that included four UEFA Champions League titles with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
He remains the only player to have won the Champions League with three different clubs, having lifted the trophy with all three European sides.
His experience at the highest level of European football is expected to be an important asset as he takes on the challenge of leading Corinthians through their relegation battle.
