The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has promised to prioritise citizens’ welfare, promote inclusive governance and pursue policies aimed at accelerating development if elected governor in the February 2027 election.
Key Highlights

- He pledged a responsible, responsive and inclusive government focused on citizens’ welfare.
- He accused Governor Agbu Kefas’s administration of misrule and corruption.
- Political affiliation will not determine access to government services under his administration, he said.
- PDP Chairman Ibrahim Saleh charged the council to work diligently for victory in 2027.
Bwacha made the pledge in Jalingo, the state capital, at the inauguration of a 251-member governorship campaign council, as the opposition party intensifies preparations for its campaign ahead of the forthcoming governorship poll.
The former senator said his proposed administration would focus on the needs of the people, insisting that governance must deliver tangible benefits to residents, rather than serve the interests of a privileged few.
He assured the people of the state that his government would be responsible, responsive and inclusive, with an emphasis on unity, development and equal opportunities for citizens across the state.
Bwacha Criticises Kefas Administration
However, beyond his promises, Bwacha launched a scathing criticism of Governor Agbu Kefas’s administration, accusing it of misrule and corruption.
He alleged that the policies and actions of the incumbent government have set Taraba State back by decades, criticising what he described as the politics of division under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP candidate promised to pursue a different approach that would give all Tarabans a sense of belonging.
According to Bwacha, political affiliation would not determine access to government services or opportunities under his proposed administration, as he pledged to make every resident a stakeholder in the state’s development.
His message placed unity and inclusive governance at the centre of his campaign, presenting them as key elements of his proposed approach to leadership.
Bwacha also expressed concern over what he described as the open display of impunity and corruption in the state, arguing that public confidence in governance must be strengthened through transparency and accountability.
He assured party supporters that efforts were being made to ensure a transparent, credible, free and fair election in 2027, which will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The candidate further declared that election rigging should become a thing of the past, stressing the importance of allowing the electorate to freely determine who governs the state.

PDP Chairman Charges Campaign Council
Speaking at the event, the state Chairman of the PDP, Ibrahim Saleh, charged the 251-member council to work diligently towards securing victory for the party in the February 2027 governorship election.
Saleh urged members to put aside personal interests and immediate gains, insisting that collective commitment would be essential to the party’s campaign.
He called on the directors and members to mobilise support across the state and focus on communicating the party’s proposed solutions to Taraba’s development challenges.
The party chairman also emphasised the need for discipline, dedication and cooperation among council members as preparations gather momentum ahead of the poll.
In his remarks, the chairman of the campaign council, Ambassador Hassan Ardo, assured Bwacha that members would work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Ardo pledged the council’s commitment to mobilising voters, coordinating campaign activities and strengthening the party’s grassroots presence ahead of the election.
