Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has visited the Ughelli North Local Government Traditional Rulers Forum, seeking the support and prayers of Urhobo monarchs for ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and Delta State governorship candidate Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi Meets Urhobo Traditional Rulers
The meeting was held at the palace of the Ughelli monarch in Ughelli and was attended by several prominent traditional rulers from Urhobo communities.
Those present included the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III; the Ovie of Ogor Kingdom, HRM Okiemute Onajite Igere I, JP; the Ovie of Evwreni, HRM Oghenekevwe Kumane, Eruvwedede III; the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom, HRM Samson Owhe Ogugu I; and the Odion R’ode of Uwheru Kingdom, HRM Simpson Sapele, Obruche II, among other monarchs.
Amaechi was accompanied by ADC Delta State governorship candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.
Amaechi Appeals for Support for Atiku, Ogboru
During the meeting, Amaechi appealed to the traditional rulers to support ADC candidates in the 2027 general elections, particularly Atiku Abubakar in the presidential race and Ogboru in the Delta State governorship election.
He also sought the prayers of the monarchs for the success of the party and its candidates as the ADC begins to mobilise support ahead of the elections.
The visit forms part of efforts by the party and its candidates to engage influential traditional and community leaders ahead of the 2027 polls.
Urhobo Monarch Offers Royal Blessings
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Oharisi III, offered prayers for Amaechi, Atiku, Ogboru and the ADC.
The monarch prayed for success in their political aspirations and asked God to grant Amaechi his heart’s desires.
He also prayed for the success of Atiku’s presidential bid and Ogboru’s ambition to become governor of Delta State.

Monarch Describes Amaechi’s Visit as Significant
Oharisi III described Amaechi’s visit as significant, noting that, according to him, Amaechi was the only presidential candidate or representative he had seen personally visit traditional rulers to seek their support and prayers.
The royal blessing brought the meeting to a close, with the traditional rulers receiving Amaechi and listening to his appeal for support for ADC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, engagements with traditional institutions and community leaders are expected to remain an important part of the campaigns of political parties and candidates.
