Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Sunday, commenced mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming elections, urging residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party candidates.
Zulum, who returned to the state the same day after a strategic trip to the United States and Canada, led a rally in Maiduguri despite heavy rainfall.
Addressing party supporters and residents at the Government House, the governor called for continuity in governance, highlighting what he described as security improvements recorded in Borno and the wider North-East region.
According to him, the relative peace and stability in the region were achieved through the collective efforts of the state and federal governments, as well as the resilience of residents.
Zulum also said federal government support has contributed to the rehabilitation of infrastructure and the resettlement of internally displaced persons across the state.
He urged APC members and supporters to sustain their backing for the party, arguing that continuity at both the state and federal levels would help consolidate ongoing recovery efforts.
“In the first four years of our administration, we worked hard to ensure the security of the lives of our people, and with the help of Almighty Allah, relative peace was attained,” Zulum said.
“Let us understand that the peace we are enjoying today is a result of our collective resilience and the federal government’s support.”

The governor further called on party members, community leaders and residents to mobilise support for all APC candidates, from the presidency to the State House of Assembly.
“Let us support President Bola Tinubu, our gubernatorial candidate, Mustapha Gubio, and let us support all our National and state House of Assembly candidates,” he said.
Zulum said a cohesive legislative arm is necessary to complement the executive and facilitate the delivery of democratic dividends to communities across the state.
