Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has pledged to leave behind a more stable, secure, and economically prosperous state by the end of his tenure, assuring residents that ongoing efforts to address insecurity and strengthen development will yield greater results before the transition of power.

Key Highlights:

  • Borno Governor Babagana Zulum pledges a more secure, stable, and prosperous state before leaving office.
  • He assured support for APC governorship candidate Mustapha Gubio for the 2027 election.
  • Zulum highlighted past security and humanitarian challenges and progress made during his tenure.
  • He praised Gubio’s integrity, leadership qualities, and long-standing personal acquaintance.

Governor Zulum made the commitment on Monday, while receiving a delegation of prominent sons and daughters of Gubio Local Government Concil at the Government House in Maiduguri.

The delegation was led by elder statesman, Gambo Gubio and included the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Mustapha Gubio.

Addressing the visitors, Governor Zulum acknowledged the security challenges facing the state, but reaffirmed his administration’s determination to consolidate achievements recorded over the years and build a stronger foundation for sustainable growth.

“Security is the most difficult issue. Insha Allah, before I leave, the situation will be better than now. I will hand over a more stable, more prosperous, and more secure government to Mustapha Gubio, Insha Allah,” the governor said.

Governor Zulum noted that preserving success is often more challenging than attaining it, urging residents to continue supporting and praying for the APC governorship candidate.

“What matters is not just success; managing success is more difficult than achieving success itself. Managing success and managing the affairs of Borno State is not easy, but with collective support, prayers, and guidance, God will give him the wisdom and energy to succeed as a candidate and, Insha Allah, as governor,” he stated.

The governor also praised Gubio’s character and leadership qualities, describing him as a man of integrity whom he has known for more than two decades.

“I have known him for the past 26 years, since he was a student at the University of Maiduguri.

“His integrity is evident; he is humane, very gentle, and composed. Insha Allah, God will help him to steer the mantle of leadership of Borno State,” Governor Zulum said.

Reflecting on the early days of his administration in 2019, the governor recounted the immense sacrifices required to tackle the state’s security and humanitarian challenges.

“When I took over the leadership of the state, in the first 55 days of my administration, I saw my children only three times.

“The first four years were really challenging, but Almighty Allah has helped us to see light at the end of the tunnel,” he recalled.

Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and emphasized the importance of faith and acceptance of divine guidance in leadership and public service.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Gambo Gubio, commended the governor for his role in the emergence of Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

“We are here today to express our profound gratitude and thanks for this remarkable occasion. Words alone cannot adequately convey the depth of our feelings or fully capture all that we wish to say. However, we remain sincerely grateful and deeply appreciative,” he said.

Gambo described the APC candidate as a worthy son of Gubio and expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the state.

He also lauded Governor Zulum’s achievements in security, infrastructure development, and governance, noting that the governor’s administration continues to record significant progress.
