The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has expressed grief over the death of Coach Christy Amadi, a former national volleyball player and national beach volleyball coach who dedicated years to the development of the sport in Nigeria.

Amadi represented Nigeria at international competitions during her playing career as a member of the national team before moving into coaching.
She later served as a national beach volleyball coach, where she brought her experience and knowledge to the development of athletes and the growth of beach volleyball in the country.
The NVBF described her death as a major loss to Nigerian volleyball, particularly the beach volleyball community, as well as to athletes, coaches and officials who worked with her over the years.
In a condolence message, NVBF President, Musa Nimrod, alongside the federation’s board and the wider volleyball family, sympathised with Amadi’s family, friends, colleagues, athletes and associates.
The federation prayed for God’s comfort for her loved ones and asked for strength for the family to bear the loss.
“Coach Christy Amadi may have left us, but her service, contribution and legacy to Nigerian volleyball will remain remembered,” the federation said.
The NVBF also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
