The airline’s offer follows a directive from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) requiring compensation for passengers affected by the delayed flight.
Effiong disclosed the development on Wednesday through his X account, where he shared an email from Air Peace’s call centre confirming the compensation arrangement.
In the email, the airline apologised for the disruption of flight P47100, which was scheduled to operate from Lagos to Enugu on September 21, 2026.
Air Peace said the discounted ticket, excluding applicable taxes, was approved to compensate Effiong for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
The airline instructed him to claim the offer by sending an email to its call centre with his previous booking reference, a scanned copy of his travel passport and details of his new itinerary, including the route, date and time of travel.
According to the airline, the compensation is valid for six months from the date of the email, although the offer will not apply between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027.
The compensation followed an earlier NCAA investigation into the disruption, which found that affected passengers had received an incorrect notification ahead of the scheduled flight.
Effiong had earlier criticised the airline after arriving at Terminal One of the Murtala Muhammed Airport at about 5:50am for the 6:45am flight.
He said passengers were initially asked to wait before the flight was eventually rescheduled to 4:50pm, a delay he said caused him to miss a scheduled court appearance in Enugu State.
NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, later explained that the disruption resulted from a knock-on effect of an earlier incident on Sunday night.

Achimugu directed Air Peace to compensate the affected passengers in accordance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
However, Effiong said the compensation did not resolve what he described as a broader problem with the airline’s service delivery.
“This modest effort by Air Peace to assuage me and other aggrieved passengers should not detract from the fundamental issue, namely: the perennial lackluster, arrogant and frustrating attitude of the company,” he said in his post on X.
Effiong commended Achimugu and the NCAA for their response to the incident but called for stronger regulations to protect the rights of air passengers.
“While the swift response of Mike Achimugu and NCAA in this case are commendable, there is no doubt that we need a stiffer and stronger regulatory framework in the aviation industry to protect the rights of air passengers,” he said.
