The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa State Constituency by-election in Kano State, with its candidate, Hussaini Yusuf-Datti, securing 22,890 votes.
Yusuf-Datti defeated his closest rival, Habib Hamisu of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), who polled 270 votes in the election conducted on Saturday.
The result, announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, showed that the APC candidate won by a margin of 22,620 votes.
The returning officer, Ibrahim Tajo-Suraj, declared Yusuf-Datti the winner after the collation of results from the constituency.
The PDP candidate, Abdullahi Adamu, came third with 108 votes, while Bala Mohammed-Sani of the Action Democratic Party (ADC) secured 89 votes.

Aliyu Abdullahi of the All Peoples Party (APP) received 53 votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Abubakar Yahya-Mohammed, polled 39 votes.
Declaring the result, Tajo-Suraj said the APC candidate has met the legal requirements and obtained the highest number of votes cast.
He subsequently declared Yusuf-Datti elected to represent the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly.
The by-election became necessary following the departure of the former occupant of the seat, Shuaibu Nagoggo, popularly known as Abba Gano, who moved to the House of Representatives.
The outcome marks the return of the APC to the constituency’s seat in the Kano State House of Assembly, with Yusuf-Datti now set to assume legislative duties on behalf of the constituency.
