Former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), where he has emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Haske announced his resignation from the APC and his decision to join the APM on Saturday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, before he was formally presented with the party’s governorship ticket.
According to a statement signed by his Publicity Secretary, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, Haske said his decision is motivated by his desire to pursue a people-oriented development agenda for Adamawa State.
He described his movement to the APM as a “convergence of principle and purpose,” stressing that his political agenda would centre on accountable leadership, economic empowerment, youth inclusion, social development and sustainable growth.
“Every political journey reaches moments that demand courage, reflection and a clear sense of direction. This is one of those moments,” Haske said.
He added that his decision is not simply about leaving one political party for another, but about joining what he described as a broader movement committed to the future of Adamawa State.
According to him, his administration, if elected in 2027, would prioritise agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and transparent governance.
“Our objective remains clear: to build a state where governance works for the people, where young people have opportunities to succeed, where communities are connected to development, and where public resources are managed transparently for the common good,” he said.
Haske also thanked the national and state leadership of the APM for entrusting him with the party’s ticket, promising to justify the confidence placed in him through integrity, hard work and dedicated service.
Speaking on the development, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, said Haske emerged as the party’s candidate after consultations with stakeholders.

Dantalle said the former APC aspirant’s political philosophy was consistent with the APM’s vision of people-centred governance.
The Adamawa State Chairman of the APM, Badejo Bello, similarly described Haske as a bridge-builder capable of connecting with the aspirations of the people.
He said the party was ready to mobilise its members and supporters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Haske’s defection adds another dimension to the political contest ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State, with parties expected to intensify their mobilisation and campaign activities as the election approaches.
