Adamawa State governorship aspirant, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, has reportedly resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Key Highlights

  • Abdulrahman Bashir Haske allegedly defects from APC to APM.
  • Sources say several members of his political structure moved with him.
  • Haske previously sought the Adamawa governorship ticket on the APC platform.
  • Defection may reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 election.
  • APM is expected to gain fresh momentum in Adamawa State.
  • Haske’s “A.D.A.M.A.W.A First Agenda” remains central to his political vision.

Sources familiar with the development, as well as officials at the APM state secretariat, confirmed the defection on Tuesday, although Haske had yet to issue an official statement at the time of filing this report.

The development is also said to have triggered the exit of several members of his political support structure, including strategists, coordinators and grassroots mobilisers who worked with him during his campaign activities within the APC.

Haske Seeks Fresh Political Platform

A source close to the politician said the move was aimed at providing Haske with a fresh political platform to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State.

The source urged supporters to embrace the new political direction, describing it as a potential pathway to electoral success in 2027.

Haske, a 35-year-old businessman and philanthropist, had earlier declared his intention to contest the Adamawa governorship election under the APC.

During a campaign rally at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, he unveiled his seven-point development blueprint known as the “A.D.A.M.A.W.A First Agenda,” outlining his vision for economic growth, infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment.

Internal Party Disagreements Linked to Defection

Political observers believe Haske’s reported exit from the APC may be connected to unresolved grievances and internal disagreements over the party’s preparations for the 2027 governorship contest.

The move is expected to alter political calculations in Adamawa, particularly as opposition parties intensify efforts to challenge the ruling party ahead of the election.

Haske’s entry into the APM could trigger fresh alliances and increase competition among major contenders seeking to shape the political future of Adamawa State.

Analysts say the coming months may witness further defections and realignments as political parties reposition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
