The Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has rewarded a staff, Miss Usifoh Godsthought, with N500,000 for her consistent participation in the institute’s aerobics sessions.
Shaibu presented the cash reward to Godsthought after Tuesday’s exercise, recognising her commitment to the fitness programme held regularly for staff.
Godsthought, who teaches French at the institute, has reportedly been among the most consistent participants since the aerobics programme was introduced.
Speaking during the presentation, Shaibu said the reward is intended to encourage staff to take their health and physical fitness seriously.
According to him, the aerobics sessions, held every Tuesday and Thursday at NIS offices across the country, are part of efforts to promote a healthier and more active workforce.

He said maintaining physical fitness could also contribute to improved mental alertness and productivity, ultimately enhancing service delivery at the institute.
The NIS boss urged other staff members to emulate Godsthought’s dedication and make regular exercise part of their routine.
Shaibu further assured that the institute would continue to support wellness initiatives aimed at improving staff welfare while strengthening institutional performance.
Godsthought’s recognition adds another dimension to the NIS fitness programme, which is designed not only to promote exercise but also to encourage staff participation and build a stronger workplace culture around health and well-being.
