Aston Villa have completed the signing of highly rated Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €55 million (£47 million).
The 18-year-old becomes the latest attacking addition to Unai Emery’s squad as Villa continue an ambitious rebuilding campaign ahead of the new season.
Mbaye arrives in England after featuring prominently for PSG during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring three goals and registering two assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
The young winger was part of the PSG side that successfully retained both the Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League titles last season.
Mbaye also announced himself on the international stage during the 2026 World Cup, featuring in all four of Senegal’s matches at the tournament.
He scored in Senegal’s 3-1 defeat to France, becoming the youngest African player to score at a men’s World Cup.
Born in France, Mbaye began his football development with FC Versailles 78 before joining Paris Saint-Germain’s academy in 2018.
He progressed through the club’s youth ranks and made his senior debut for PSG in August 2024 at just 16 years old.
Although he represented France at youth level, the talented winger switched his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025 after becoming eligible to represent the West African nation through his father.
Mbaye joins a growing list of attacking players recruited by Aston Villa this summer, following the arrivals of Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson.

Villa’s significant investment in new players comes after several major departures from the side that won the UEFA Europa League.
Morgan Rogers completed a £117 million move to Chelsea, while defender Ezri Konsa joined Arsenal in a £55 million deal.
Striker Ollie Watkins also departed Villa, completing a £51 million move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
Mbaye’s arrival represents another major statement of intent from Aston Villa as Emery looks to rebuild his squad and maintain the club’s competitiveness following a summer of significant changes.
The Senegal international will now be expected to bring his pace, creativity and growing experience at the highest level to Villa’s attack as the club begins a new chapter following its busy transfer window.
