Members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), rounding off their 33 annual general meeting at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt had a taste of the decaying infrastructure in the state as flood overran the venue on Saturday.
Many of the lawyers dressed in corporate outfits were forced to pull their off shoes, ties and fold their trousers in order to navigate their way out of the venue.
Some of them converted the development to making brisk business of backing others especially the female at a fee of between N3,000 to N5,000 to cross the deluge.
Online video showing the incident had voices echoing “Rivers of joy” at the background, apparently mocking a state reputed to be the treasure base of the country with such a sorry state of infrastructure.

Some people selling flipflops also made brisk business of selling to those who couldn’t step into the pool of water on their bare feet.
The Liberation Stadium has been abandoned for some years, and it took the Fubara administration to begin renovation work on the facility.
It was however, not confirmed if the renovation has been certified completed before the NBA chose the venue for the conference.
