Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has said the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration are too visible to be discredited by political attacks ahead of the 2027 elections.
Aniagwu spoke on Sunday during an appearance on Arise News’ The Morning Show, where he responded to criticisms of the administration and recent political realignments in Delta State.

Aniagwu: Delta managing resources prudently
Responding to comments by former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, about Delta State’s savings with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Aniagwu described the remarks as an acknowledgement of the government’s prudent management of resources.
“If you Google him, you will see where he said that we have saved so much money with the CBN. Why are we saving money? He has even mentioned it, which means an acknowledgement of the fact that our government has been able to manage our resources,” Aniagwu said.
The commissioner said Delta State had become financially solvent and liquid under Oborevwori’s administration.
“We are not only solvent, we are also very liquid. And we did not become liquid by accident. We became liquid because our governor is a very, very prudent manager of resources,” he said.
Delta commits $100m to investment fund
Aniagwu also pointed to the recently held Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, where Oborevwori announced plans to commit $100 million as a de-risking fund to attract investments into the state.
“That tells you the strength of the economy,” he said, adding that the initiative demonstrated the confidence investors could have in Delta State.
He further disclosed that the administration provides up to 40 per cent mobilisation for awarded projects, which he said had accelerated project execution.
“For each of the projects that we award, we give as much as 40 per cent mobilisation. No state is doing that in Nigeria,” he said.
According to Aniagwu, the policy has helped several projects reach completion on schedule, with some delivered ahead of their completion dates.
Commissioner highlights road projects
Aniagwu said the achievements of the Oborevwori administration extended beyond road construction, stressing that the impact of the governor’s MORE Agenda was visible across various sectors.
He particularly highlighted the state’s road network, saying improved infrastructure had made movement across Delta easier.
“Today you can travel very smoothly without any single pothole all the way from Asaba down to Ughelli and then proceed to Warri on the federal corridor. That has been made possible by the effort of the Oborevwori administration,” he said.
The commissioner said the administration’s record had made it difficult for its opponents to accuse the governor of non-performance.
“His footprints are very, very bold and visible. He knows that he cannot accuse Oborevwori of not performing. He knows that Oborevwori has performed beyond the expectations of many,” Aniagwu said.
Aniagwu dismisses political concerns
Aniagwu also dismissed suggestions that recent political developments could weaken Oborevwori’s political base, insisting that the administration remained focused on governance and service delivery.
Commenting on Omo-Agege’s political activities, Aniagwu alleged that the former senator was seeking to gain media attention through criticisms of the government.
He said political contests would ultimately be determined by preparation, records and grassroots support.
Aniagwu also recalled that Senator Ede Dafinone defeated Omo-Agege in the APC senatorial primary, attributing the outcome to Dafinone’s record in the Senate and his grassroots support.
He said the Oborevwori administration would not be distracted by what he described as issues “completely at variance with reality.”
“Our route is to continue to stay on the path of governance,” he said.
Oborevwori’s grassroots support remains strong, Aniagwu says
The commissioner further dismissed claims that political realignment in Delta State had weakened the governor’s support base.
According to him, the administration’s strongest asset remains its record of projects and development initiatives at the grassroots.
He cited Oborevwori’s recent tour of communities and farms across the state, where residents reportedly turned out to welcome the governor.
Aniagwu said the reception reflected residents’ appreciation of infrastructure projects being executed in their communities.
“What is pushing them is that they are seeing the infrastructure in their villages,” he said.
He added that the Oborevwori administration would remain focused on infrastructure development, economic growth and creating opportunities for Deltans rather than engaging in political mudslinging.
