The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Delta State chapter, has said the changing political alliances in the state could create a fresh opportunity for Chief Great Ogboru to achieve his long-standing quest for political change in the 2027 governorship election.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Fred Akpewe, said although political parties and alliances have changed over the years, the dominant political establishment in Delta State has remained largely intact.

Akpewe said the changing political landscape has however, continued to create opportunities for voters to reconsider their choices and demand an alternative direction for the state.

According to him, Ogboru’s long political journey, marked by repeated participation in governorship contests, demonstrated his sustained commitment to providing Deltans with an alternative to the established political order.

He described Ogboru as a politician who has remained resilient despite electoral setbacks and political challenges, saying his persistence had strengthened his standing among supporters who believe in his political project.

“Political parties and alliances may have changed over the years, but the dominant political establishment in the state has remained largely intact,” Akpewe said.

He added that Ogboru’s ability to remain active in politics despite successive challenges reflected a determination to pursue what he believed was a better political direction for Delta State.

The ADC spokesman said the 2027 election could therefore represent a significant turning point, particularly as new political alignments emerge and voters increasingly assess the competing visions being presented to them.

He said Ogboru’s years of engagement with communities across Delta had given him considerable experience of the challenges confronting the people, including unemployment, poor infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, industrial development and accountability in the management of public resources.

Akpewe expressed confidence that the Ogboru message of political renewal would resonate with Deltans seeking change, stressing that the final decision would ultimately rest with the electorate.

He said Ogboru’s political journey should not be judged only by past electoral outcomes, but also by his consistency in challenging the prevailing political order and keeping the demand for an alternative alive.

“For those who believe in the Ogboru project, 2027 is more than another election. It is an opportunity to convert years of political perseverance into meaningful public service and a new direction for Delta State,” he said.
