The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has sensitised Batch B Stream II corps members at the Lagos orientation camp on the use of its digital services and ways to protect themselves from fraudulent schemes.
The sensitisation exercise was disclosed in a post on the National Youth Service Corps’ official X handle on Wednesday.
Speaking during the exercise, the Local Government Coordinator at NIMC Lagos Central, Princess Elekwa, explained that the National Identification Number (NIN) is a unique 11-digit number issued to Nigerian citizens and legal residents and linked to their records in the National Identity Database.
Elekwa also introduced the corps members to the NINAUTH mobile application, which she said enables users to securely verify their identity, download their official NIN slips at no cost and manage access to their personal information.
Also speaking, the Head of Modification, Odiase Oaikhinan, explained that corps members could modify their NIN information through the NIMC website, stressing the importance of protecting personal data from unauthorised access.

The commission urged the corps members to make effective use of its approved digital platforms and remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes involving NIN-related services.
NIMC also encouraged the corps members to participate actively in initiatives aimed at improving public awareness and understanding of Nigeria’s national identity management system.
