The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced a fresh verification requirement for prospective corps members ahead of the 2026 Batch B mobilisation exercise.
Key Highlights
- The NYSC has introduced mandatory NERD clearance for prospective corps members.
- The new requirement applies to the 2026 Batch B mobilisation exercise.
- No prospective corps member will be mobilised without obtaining National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) clearance.
- The directive was announced through the NYSC’s official social media platforms.
- The scheme urged eligible graduates to complete the verification process early to avoid mobilisation delays.
The scheme announced that prospective corps members must obtain clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) before they can be mobilised for the national service programme.
The directive was contained in a notice shared through the NYSC’s official social media platforms as the scheme intensifies preparations for the next batch of prospective corps members.
According to the NYSC, NERD clearance is now compulsory for all eligible graduates seeking mobilisation.
The scheme warned that no prospective corps member would be mobilised without the required clearance, urging graduates to complete the necessary verification process early to avoid possible delays.
Although the NYSC did not provide detailed information on how prospective corps members can obtain the NERD clearance, the latest directive indicates that the scheme is strengthening its verification procedures ahead of the 2026 Batch B orientation exercise.
The development comes shortly after the NYSC announced preparations for the mobilisation of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch B service year.

The scheme has also continued to issue safety advisories to prospective corps members ahead of their movement to orientation camps.
In its recent advisory, the NYSC warned prospective corps members against travelling at night to orientation camps due to security concerns.
It advised those embarking on long journeys to break their trips where necessary and lodge in safe locations or designated military and security formations rather than continue travelling after dark.
With the latest requirement, prospective corps members are expected to complete all necessary registration, documentation and verification procedures, including the newly emphasised NERD clearance, before reporting to their designated orientation camps.
The NYSC urged all eligible graduates to comply with the directive and complete the required processes ahead of mobilisation.
