The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected a fresh statement by the media team of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, insisting that the state government’s condemnation of the recent attack on party official, Hon. Temple Mudi, disproves allegations that the ruling party orchestrated political violence.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC said Omo-Agege’s latest response was another attempt to “rewrite facts” and sustain what it described as a false narrative of insecurity in Delta State.
The party argued that the statement by the Commissioner for Works and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, directing security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute those behind the attack on Mudi demonstrated that neither the Delta State Government nor the APC had any involvement in the incident.
According to the APC, “If, as they dubiously allege, the APC or the State Government was behind the unfortunate incident, why would the same government publicly direct security agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators?”
The party also accused Omo-Agege of deliberately misrepresenting events at the APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.
It maintained that contrary to claims that the meeting was violently disrupted by hoodlums, live broadcasts by Arise Television and TVC News showed that proceedings continued uninterrupted despite what it described as an isolated attack on Mudi.
The APC further dismissed attempts to link it to the alleged attack on the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chris Iyovwaye, during a visit to Aghalokpe Community, describing the allegation as baseless.
It challenged Omo-Agege and the NDC to produce evidence connecting the party or any of its members to the incident, stressing that allegations alone could not substitute for proof.
Responding to claims that the APC was planning a coordinated campaign of violence ahead of the 2027 general elections, the ruling party described the allegation as “the mother of all lies,” insisting that no credible evidence had been presented to any security agency.
The APC also rejected claims that it opposed investigations into the incidents, pointing out that its July 29 statement had expressly called on the Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation.

The party maintained that Delta State continues to enjoy relative peace under the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that while isolated criminal incidents may occur, the government has consistently supported law enforcement agencies in tackling insecurity.
It urged Omo-Agege and the NDC to refrain from what it called politics of falsehood and fear, and instead allow security agencies to investigate all allegations without political interference.
The latest exchange follows a statement by Omo-Agege’s media aide, Godwin Anaughe, who argued that the state government’s confirmation of the attack on Mudi vindicated earlier claims by the former deputy senate president’s camp that political violence had occurred at the PTI meeting. Anaughe also renewed calls for independent investigations into the PTI incident and the alleged attack on the NDC governorship candidate in Aghalokpe.
