Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has rewarded Nasarawa Amazons.for emerging victorious in the Women’s President Federation’s Cup and in recognition of their triumphant display and dedicated service to the state.

The ceremony which took place at the Government House, Lafia, also saw Governor Sule presenting a 2026 edition 38-seater Toyota Coaster bus and a cash donation to Nasarawa Amazons FC and Nasarawa United Football Club, respectively.
While applauding the Amazons for lifting the 2026 Women’s FA Cup trophy after defeating Heartland Queens 6-5 via a penalty shoot-out, the governor announced further announced a cash reward of $1,000 each for the Most Valuable Player of the Women’s FA Cup, Hembafan Ayatsea, and her teammate, Udoka Unachukwu, who emerged as the Best Goalkeeper of the competition.
Also, each of the other 34 players of the club received $500 as reward, the state government donated N25 million to the 36 female registered players, N15 million to the management and technical staff of the team, as well as N5 million to the supporters club.
Similarly, the Governor Sule, in appreciation of the efforts of the men’s Premier League side, Nasarawa United, at the just concluded 2025/26 football season, donated N10M million to the team finishing second on the Premier League table and for reaching the semi final of the President Federation’s Cup.
Other beneficiaries of the governor’s cash reward are the feeder team of Nasarawa United FC that got N10 million and the Nasarawa State Football Association, which also received N10 million.
The governor expressed satisfaction that the women’s football team had made him and the entire state proud and happy.
“I thank you for making us all proud. You are, indeed, the pride of Nasarawa State.
“The reason I love sports and you is because sport is the only activity you do that doesn’t consider differences, yours is to play and win.
“I hate to hear, read or even see people dwelling on religion, ethnicity – in fact, I can’t stand such myopic thinking because it kills my spirit.

He thereafter, approved the immediate allocation of a befitting hostel accommodation for the players and officials of Nasarawa Amazons and the procurement of official vehicles for the Technical Adviser of the team, Christopher Danjuma, to ease his transportation challenges.
