Addressing journalists in Calabar on Friday, Julius maintained that the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee remains the legally recognised leadership of the PDP, relying on judgments of the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
He said the faction had also produced candidates for the three senatorial districts, eight House of Representatives seats and 25 Cross River State House of Assembly constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Julius called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, party members and the general public to disregard individuals allegedly parading themselves as PDP candidates under a rival faction.
According to him, the Turaki-led PDP is committed to restoring confidence in the party’s structure in Cross River State and providing what he described as authentic leadership for party members.

He stated that although Governor Bassey Otu was making efforts in governance, the PDP remained prepared to offer what he described as a better alternative for the people of the state.
Speaking on the ongoing leadership dispute within the PDP, Julius argued that INEC could not upload the names of candidates while litigation over the party’s leadership and nomination process remained unresolved, particularly in relation to the faction associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
“We are the authentic members of the Caretaker Committees of our party in Cross River State, and I remain the duly nominated governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party under the leadership of the Tanimu Turaki (SAN)-led National Working Committee,” Julius said.
He added that he appeared alongside all duly nominated flag bearers of the faction, including the three senatorial candidates, eight House of Representatives candidates and 25 House of Assembly candidates for the 2027 elections.
Julius explained that the press briefing became necessary to counter what he described as misleading claims by individuals allegedly presenting themselves as PDP candidates without the backing of the recognised party leadership.
According to him, the Turaki-led leadership remains the authentic leadership of the PDP based on the party’s interpretation of existing appellate court judgments, insisting that all candidates presented by the faction emerged through the recognised party structure.
He urged PDP supporters, stakeholders, INEC, security agencies and the electorate to disregard any political misinformation capable of creating confusion ahead of the 2027 elections.
Julius reaffirmed the faction’s commitment to democratic principles, credible leadership and the development of Cross River State, while appealing for the continued support of residents as the party prepares for the next general election.
