Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari, has dismissed concerns over 2027 Opposition’s Chances, expressing confidence that no opposition party or emerging political coalition can stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing re-election in the 2027 general election.
Key Highlights:
- Uba Maigari says 2027 Opposition’s Chances are too weak to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
- The minister predicts a “very loud” victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
- He argues that opposition figures have failed to present a credible alternative to Nigerians.
- Maigari credits Tinubu’s administration with achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic reforms.
- The minister also praised Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for strengthening APC unity in the state.
- He dismissed allegations that the APC is using state institutions to intimidate political opponents.
Speaking with journalists after an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Jalingo, Taraba State, Maigari said the ruling party remains well-positioned for another electoral victory, insisting that opposition parties have failed to convince Nigerians they deserve to return to power.
‘Opposition Has Nothing New to Offer’
According to the minister, many of those seeking to challenge President Tinubu in 2027 are the same candidates who were defeated in the 2023 presidential election and have not demonstrated any significant achievements capable of changing voters’ perception.

“I can tell you for free that the victory in 2027 will be very loud. Look at the opposition candidates. Apart from moving from one political party to another, what have they done to make Nigerians want to vote for them?” he said.
Maigari Backs Tinubu’s Performance
Maigari attributed his confidence to what he described as the Tinubu administration’s performance across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, human capital development and economic reforms.
He argued that the administration has laid a strong foundation for sustainable national development and earned the trust of Nigerians ahead of the next election.
“The President has brought about strategic development in various sections of the system across the country. Is it in terms of physical infrastructure, education, health, human capital development or economic reforms? You just name it. So he has prepared the ground for a sound victory in 2027,” the minister stated.
Commends Governor Agbu Kefas
Beyond national politics, Maigari also praised Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for promoting unity within the APC and strengthening internal party cohesion.
He said the governor has continued to carry party stakeholders along in governance, a development he believes has enhanced political stability in the state.
“Let me also put it on record that, all things properly considered, I am satisfied with the performance of the state governor and I am sure it is good enough to guarantee his victory. As critical stakeholders, we will continue to guide him in the right direction so that, together, we can build the Taraba of our dream,” he said.
Rejects Allegations of Political Intimidation
The minister also dismissed claims by opposition figures that the APC is deploying state institutions to harass political opponents ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, government institutions should be allowed to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without every investigation being politicised.
“State institutions are meant to function and work well and so when they engage people because they have genuine issues, I don’t think it is correct to reduce it to politics. People should be bold enough to face their issues. In APC, we are too advantaged and our victory is too assured for us to resort to intimidation and harassment,” Maigari added.
Political Realignments Ahead of 2027
Maigari’s comments come as political consultations and coalition talks continue to gather momentum across the country ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition parties exploring possible alliances to challenge the ruling APC.
Despite the growing political activities, the minister insisted that the APC remains united and confident of retaining power at both the national and state levels.
