Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has opened up about his decision to temporarily stop acting, revealing that years of non-stop work left him physically and mentally exhausted.
Speaking in a video shared on his YouTube channel, the actor apologised to fans for previously announcing that he was quitting acting, admitting that the decision was made out of burnout and emotional fatigue.
According to Emodi, he featured in more than 300 productions between 2017 and the end of 2025, with little or no time for vacations or rest.
“I acted since 2017 till last year ending. That’s about 300 productions. Eight years, no vacations, no rest. I was tired. If you do something too much, you get tired. I needed a break to find the love for acting again,” he said.
The actor emphasised that acting remains his first love, noting that he studied the craft professionally and even earned a master’s degree in acting for film.
Reflecting on his earlier announcement that he was leaving the movie industry to focus on music, Emodi admitted he acted impulsively and regretted how the news affected his supporters.

“I have high respect for acting. Waking up one day to say I’m not acting again felt like I swindled you guys. I’m sorry for playing with your emotions,” he said.
Emodi added that his mission has always been to inspire people through his creative work rather than simply make money.
He disclosed that he plans to return to acting but will be more intentional about balancing his workload to prevent another burnout.
Earlier this year, the actor announced his exit from Nollywood, citing traumatic experiences on movie sets and his desire to concentrate on his music career.
