President of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Beach Volleyball Commission, Musa Nimrod, has described the 2026 African Nations Cup Beach Volleyball Zone 3 qualifiers as a key preparation platform for athletes ahead of the World Championship in the Netherlands.
Speaking during the ongoing tournament in Badagry, Lagos State, Nimrod said the regional competition offers players the opportunity to compete against quality opposition, helping them sharpen their skills before the global event.
He noted that beyond determining the best teams in the zone, the championship is also aimed at improving the standard of beach volleyball across West Africa through regular high-level competition.

Nimrod said Nigeria remains committed to creating opportunities that will accelerate the growth of the sport on the continent, adding that hosting the qualifiers reflects the country’s increasing capacity to stage major volleyball competitions.
He also expressed confidence that players, officials and delegates would enjoy a successful tournament, while commending participating nations for their commitment to the development of beach volleyball in the region.
The CAVB official urged all teams to uphold the values of fair play and sportsmanship throughout the championship.
The five-day competition, taking place from July 3 to July 7 in Badagry, features men’s and women’s events involving Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Niger Republic and Liberia.
