Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has firmly dismissed reports suggesting he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting he remains a loyal member of the ruling party. The former Kano State governor described the viral posters circulating on social media as false, misleading and politically motivated, stressing that he has never considered leaving the APC.

Key Highlights:

  • Ganduje denies joining NDC, describes defection claims as false.
  • Says viral posters are part of a political misinformation campaign.
  • Reaffirms commitment to the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
  • Warns those behind the fake posters of possible legal action.
  • Urges the public to rely only on official statements regarding his political activities.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba.

Addressing the rumours, Ganduje said he is not a “nomadic politician” or a “vulture flying from one tree to another” in search of political relevance or personal ambition.

According to the statement, the allegations that Ganduje denies joining NDC are entirely baseless and were deliberately fabricated to mislead the public, create uncertainty among APC members and fuel unnecessary political speculation.

The former APC National Chairman maintained that he has remained steadfast in his political convictions and has no intention of abandoning the party he once led at the national level.

“It is not only false but also illogical for anyone to insinuate that Ganduje has joined the NDC; such a claim lacks both political and logical foundation,” the statement read.

Ganduje further described the APC as Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, noting that it continues to enjoy growing national acceptance under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

He alleged that the circulation of the fake posters was the handiwork of political mischief-makers seeking to tarnish his image and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.

The former Kano governor disclosed that those allegedly responsible for producing and circulating the posters had been identified. He warned that unless they immediately withdraw the defamatory materials and cease further dissemination, legal action would be instituted against them.

Ganduje also called on APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the reports in their entirety, insisting that the posters do not reflect his political position or future plans.

Reaffirming his commitment to the APC, he pledged continued support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and vowed to work with the party’s leadership to consolidate its achievements ahead of future political contests.

He equally advised Nigerians to rely solely on official communications from him and authorised APC channels regarding any information relating to his political activities.
