  • Chef Amaka, wife of Aproko Doctor, revealed that hurtful comments about her husband’s masculinity during her fertility struggles left her emotionally devastated.
  • She shared her Polycystic Ovary Syndrome diagnosis publicly to raise awareness about the condition and educate women on its impact on fertility.
  • Chef Amaka said she faced online abuse instead of support, with many making unfair assumptions about infertility and masculinity.
  • She stressed that involving her husband in the criticism made an already difficult journey even more painful.
  • Despite the backlash, Chef Amaka remains committed to speaking openly about PCOS, earning widespread support for helping reduce stigma around infertility.

Sharing her experience, Chef Amaka said the most painful moment was when online trolls questioned her husband’s ability to father a child because of her fertility struggles.

“What made me cry was when they said my husband is not man enough to father a child,” she recalled.

According to her, she decided to speak publicly about her PCOS diagnosis to educate women and create awareness about the condition, which can affect a woman’s hormones, ovulation, and fertility. However, instead of receiving understanding and encouragement, she became the target of insensitive remarks and online abuse.

She explained that many people wrongly associate fertility challenges with a lack of masculinity or femininity, describing such assumptions as both unfair and damaging. Bringing her husband into the conversation, she said, made an already difficult journey even more emotionally exhausting.

Despite the criticism, Chef Amaka said she remains determined to continue speaking openly about PCOS to help other women facing similar experiences feel less alone.

Her revelation has since sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians expressing support for the couple while condemning cyberbullying and the stigma surrounding infertility. Others praised her courage for turning a painful personal experience into an opportunity to educate the public on women’s reproductive health and the importance of empathy.
