The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including a security guard, in connection with the killing of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Olakitan Oyesiku, and a private security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The arrests followed an intensive investigation involving intelligence gathering, technical surveillance and forensic analysis, according to the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
Ojajuni disclosed the development during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday.
The victims were found dead on June 21 at Oyesiku’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State. Her Lexus RX 330 SUV was also reported missing after the incident.
According to the police commissioner, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity at the residence around 4 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered signs of forced entry, while the security post within the compound was locked.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of Adetayo’s body inside the security post, while Oyesiku was found dead in the living room with visible injuries.
Investigators immediately launched a probe and suspected robbery and homicide after discovering that the deceased’s vehicle was missing.
The stolen vehicle was recovered the following day in the Onikolobo area through intelligence-led operations.
Ojajuni said a handwritten note allegedly found at the scene provided a major lead. Forensic examination of the document reportedly helped investigators identify and track the suspects.
The principal suspect, identified as 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects — Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
According to the police, Philip confessed during interrogation and allegedly admitted recruiting the other suspects to participate in the attack.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that he was motivated by grievances stemming from his previous employment as a security guard for the deceased.

Police said the suspects allegedly overpowered and killed the security guard before gaining access to the residence, where Oyesiku was attacked and killed. They then fled with her vehicle.
Items recovered during the investigation include a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen believed to be connected to the crime.
The police command said investigations are ongoing and assured the public that all those involved in the killings would be brought to justice.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and strengthening security across the state.
