CGC Volleyball Premier League Day 10: Customs, Correctional Service, Army Teams Record Big Wins

The third edition of the CGC Volleyball Premier League continued in Abuja on Wednesday with a series of impressive performances from top contenders as the first phase of the competition entered its 10th day.

In the men’s category, Nigeria Correctional Service reinforced its title ambitions with a convincing 3-0 victory over Offa Volleyball Club. The Correctional Service side controlled proceedings from start to finish, claiming the sets 25-16, 25-23 and 25-16.

The Nigeria Customs Service also delivered a dominant display, defeating Lifecamp VC in straight sets. Customs secured the win with scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-13 to maintain momentum in the competition.

NSCDC continued its strong campaign by overpowering Defence Spikers 3-0, taking the sets 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23. CNS Spikers were equally impressive, cruising past Ajase Ipo with a commanding 25-11, 25-19 and 25-17 victory.

Kano Pillars added to the list of straight-set winners after defeating Sunshine Spikers 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18.

The standout men’s fixture of the day saw COAS Spikers edge UCEM VC in a thrilling five-set encounter. COAS claimed the opening set 25-15 before UCEM responded with a 25-22 win in the second.

The Army side regained control by taking the third set 25-18, but UCEM forced a deciding set after winning the fourth 25-15. COAS eventually held firm to secure a 15-10 victory in the final set and seal a hard-fought 3-2 triumph.

In the women’s division, Nigeria Customs Service produced one of the most dominant performances of the day, overwhelming Life Camp VC 25-9, 25-19 and 25-12.

CNS Spikers also recorded a comfortable straight-set victory over Anambra Queens, winning 25-11, 25-13 and 25-12.

COAS Spikers maintained their impressive form with a 3-0 win against Kada Emeralds, taking the sets 25-11, 25-18 and 25-19, while Vipers Spikers defeated Fire Service 25-13, 25-19 and 25-20.

NSCDC battled past Excelsior 3-1 in a competitive contest. After narrowly winning the first set 26-24 and the second 25-17, NSCDC saw Excelsior pull one back with a 25-23 third-set victory. However, NSCDC regained control in the fourth set, closing out the match 25-20.

The most dramatic women’s match featured Olalomi Royal Angels and NAF Rockets. Royal Angels claimed the opening set 25-23 before NAF Rockets fought back to win the next two sets 25-19 and 25-16.

Refusing to surrender, Royal Angels levelled the contest with a 25-22 fourth-set win and then edged a tense decider 18-16 to secure a memorable 3-2 victory.

With the first phase nearing its conclusion, the latest results have intensified the race for top positions as teams continue their push for qualification and championship honours in Abuja.
