Frustration is mounting among applicants seeking recruitment into Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies following persistent technical issues on the official portal used to check results for the ongoing recruitment exercise conducted under the Federal Ministry of Interior.
Key Highlights:
- CBT results for Interior Ministry recruitment were released.
- Applicants report inconsistent status updates on the results portal.
- Some candidates question the fairness of the shortlisting process.
- Complaints have sparked widespread reactions on social media.
- Authorities have yet to address the reported portal issues.
The ministry had recently released the long-awaited Computer-Based Test (CBT) results for applicants seeking employment into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
However, barely two days after the results were made available online, many applicants have taken to social media to complain about inconsistencies on the portal, alleging that the system displays conflicting status updates each time they log in to verify whether they have progressed to the next stage of the recruitment process.
Several applicants claimed that the portal alternates between different responses, leaving them uncertain about their actual status in the recruitment exercise.
One applicant, Peace Innocent, criticized the situation, alleging that the system’s outcome appears inconsistent.
“I know of a friend that didn’t even write anything due to network issues and submitted an empty answer booklet during the CBT exams, yet the person has been shortlisted. Very confusing country, I swear,” she wrote.
Another applicant, Eofiyat Morenikeji Wakeel, expressed disappointment over what she described as irregularities in the result-checking process.
“I experienced it too. I have never for once seen just one person who succeeded, and we are like 10 that checked it today from my side. Mind you, we all got good marks in the exam that we did,” she stated.
Similarly, Facebook user Lucia Kuyet Samuel lamented the conflicting messages displayed on her dashboard.
“My own was showing ‘We regret’, but this evening it changed to ‘Application unsuccessful’. I don’t know which one I dey,” she wrote.
Many of the applicants questioned how they reportedly scored very high marks but were not shortlisted for the next stage of the exercise, while other candidates who encountered examination challenges appeared to have progressed.

The complaints have triggered widespread debate across social media platforms, with many Nigerians calling on the federal government and the Ministry of Interior to provide clarification on the recruitment process and address the technical issues affecting the portal.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Federal Ministry of Interior nor the recruitment administrators had issued an official statement responding to the allegations of inconsistent result notifications.
The recruitment exercise, one of the largest federal employment drives in recent years, attracted hundreds of thousands of applicants from across the country seeking positions in the civil defence, immigration, fire service, and correctional service.
Concerned applicants are now urging authorities to investigate the reported anomalies, stabilize the portal, and provide transparent explanations to restore confidence in the integrity of the recruitment process.
The Ministry of Interior is expected to commence subsequent screening stages for successful candidates after the verification process is concluded.
However, many applicants insist that resolving the portal issues should be the immediate priority to prevent confusion and ensure fairness in the exercise.
