Ashimolowo, in a statement shared on Instagram, said there are moments when “sons and daughters must rise” to honour those who have dedicated their lives to serving God and humanity.
He said great leaders should not be reduced to controversies and social media debates, arguing that their decades of sacrifice and impact must be recognised.

According to him, Pastor Adeboye remains one of the most influential Christian figures of his generation and a major spiritual figure whose influence extends beyond Nigeria.
Ashimolowo warned that the Church should not remain quiet when its leaders are unfairly targeted, adding that honour should be given while people are still alive.
He wrote that society often celebrates people after their death, when appreciation should have been shown during their lifetime.
He also referenced biblical examples of persecution and opposition against God’s servants, stating that history has repeatedly shown attempts to silence prophetic voices.
