The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has firmly dismissed calls for the removal of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as an ordained pastor in the church.
Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye addressed the growing public debate surrounding the first lady’s dual role in religion and politics.
He maintained that the church would not succumb to external pressure, emphasizing that its decisions are guided strictly by spiritual principles and established internal processes.
Adeboye clarified that Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an assistant pastor long before her husband, Bola Tinubu, pursued the presidency.

According to him, her ordination was neither politically motivated nor influenced by her current position as first lady.
The cleric stressed that she met all requirements for ordination and has remained in good standing within the church.
“Oluremi Tinubu was ordained over a decade ago, followed all due processes, and has not violated any church doctrine. Therefore, no amount of external pressure will make us remove her,” Adeboye stated.
He further dismissed arguments that her political status should disqualify her from ministerial service, reiterating that the church operates independently of political affiliations.
The statement comes amid increasing public scrutiny over the intersection of political authority and religious leadership in Nigeria.
