  • She urged residents to live peacefully for development to thrive.
  • ADSIEC confirmed timely distribution of election materials across 21 LGAs.

Prof. Farauta made the remarks on Saturday, while speaking to journalists at the Karewa Primary School polling unit after inspecting several polling centres across different parts of the state.

She described the voter turnout as encouraging and impressive, noting that voters conducted themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner while exercising their civic responsibilities.

“I am satisfied with the turnout from the polling units I visited. People conducted themselves orderly and peacefully while casting their votes,” she said.

The deputy governor stated that the state government had closely monitored the election process to ensure peace and stability throughout the exercise.

“We have gone out to supervise and ensure there is peace and calmness all over the state. Adamawa State is one big family, and we encourage our people to remember that we need to live peacefully together for development to thrive,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the deputy governor thanked residents for maintaining peace during the elections and urged the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) to uphold professionalism and transparency throughout the electoral process.

At the polling units visited, ADSIEC officials, election materials and security personnel were observed on ground as voters turned out to cast their ballots.

One of the voters, Fadera Zamta, who voted at Jambutu Polling Unit 002, said accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously at about 8:00 a.m., attributing the smooth conduct of the exercise to the timely arrival of election materials.

“The materials arrived on time and the process started early. Everything has been orderly so far,” he said.

Earlier, the ADSIEC confirmed the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials across the state.

The commission’s Commissioner in charge of Logistics and Field Operations, Emmanuel Abba, said adequate arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.

Abba also disclosed that 11 political parties were participating in the local government elections, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Young Progressives Party (YPP), African Action Congress (AAC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Action Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Labour Party, among others.

The elections were generally peaceful in the areas monitored, with many voters expressing optimism that the process would further strengthen grassroots democracy in Adamawa State.
