J30 Abuja 2026: Nigeria, China Share Honours As Doubles Competition Ends

The doubles events of the J30 Abuja 2026 Tournament have officially concluded at the tennis courts of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with thrilling performances from both local and international players highlighting the final stages of the competition.

The tournament witnessed intense action in the boys’ and girls’ doubles categories on Friday as players battled for valuable International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior ranking points and championship honours.

In the boys’ doubles competition, the Chinese pairing of Jinxuan Cheng and Hengzhi Cui emerged victorious after overcoming Nigeria’s Gbolahan Oluwajuwon Olawale and his partner in a hard-fought final.

The Chinese duo secured the title with a 6-2, 4-6 victory, earning 108 ranking points and capping off an impressive run throughout the tournament.

The girls’ doubles category also produced exciting contests. In one of the semifinals, Khadijat Eleojo Mohammed of Nigeria and V.D. Rashmi Omaye Wijewardana of Sri Lanka defeated the fourth-seeded pair of Toluwalashe Agunbiade of Nigeria and Roneta Kacinskaite of Lithuania.

The encounter went the distance before Mohammed and Wijewardana emerged victorious 7-6, 4-6 to secure a place in the final.

The other semifinal saw top seeds Emmanuel Kwange and Success Ogunjobi, both from Nigeria, dominate their opponents.

The pair dispatched Daisy Okechukwu and Gloria Samuel in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the championship match.

In the girls’ doubles final, the Nigerian combination of Emmanuel Kwange and Success Ogunjobi proved too strong, defeating Khadijat Mohammed and V.D. Rashmi Omaye Wijewardana 6-1, 6-2 to lift the title.

The victory crowned an outstanding tournament for the pair, who remained unbeaten on their way to the championship.

Meanwhile, attention also turned to the singles semifinals, where several standout performances set up the championship matches.

On Centre Court, Nigeria’s Gbolahan Oluwajuwon Olawale fought back from a set down to defeat compatriot Seyi Ebenezer Ogunsakin 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the boys’ singles semifinal.

Olawale showed remarkable resilience, dominating the final set to book his place in the final.
On Court One, China’s Hengzhi Cui delivered a commanding display against fellow countryman Jinxuan Cheng, winning 6-4, 6-1 to secure the second spot in the boys’ singles final.

In the girls’ singles semifinals, Khadijat Mohammed overwhelmed Emmanuel Kwange with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Success Ogunjobi defeated Gloria Samuel 6-2, 6-2 to complete the final lineup.

The results set up an exciting conclusion to the J30 Abuja 2026 tournament, with the singles finals expected to showcase some of the best junior tennis talent from Nigeria and across the world as the competition draws to a close in the nation’s capital.
