The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers following an intelligence-led operation carried out under its ongoing security initiative, Operation Sanity Mubi.

The suspects, Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, also known as “Baban Yambiyu,” were arrested in connection with a robbery incident reported in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi, Adamawa State.
According to the Command, the suspects, alongside two accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables.

Police operatives attached to the Mubi North and Mubi South divisions were said to have trailed and apprehended the suspects after sustained intelligence gathering. Items recovered include mobile phones, jewelry, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used in the operation.
The Command said the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the area and strengthen public safety across the state.
Spokesperson of the Command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed that investigation is ongoing, adding that efforts have been intensified to track down the remaining fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring that all those involved in the crime are held accountable.
