The Adamawa State government has unveiled a comprehensive 10-year strategic development plan designed to accelerate socio-economic transformation, strengthen governance, and position the state for sustainable and inclusive growth.

Key Highlights:

  • Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, described the plan as a “people’s plan” and a social contract between government and citizens.
  • Awwal Tukur said the framework was developed through stakeholder consultations and evidence-based analysis.
  • Mary Paninga praised the administration’s leadership in developing the strategy.
  • Elijah Joshua urged strict adherence to the implementation framework.

The long-term development plan will serve as a guiding framework for public planning, budgeting, policy implementation, and investment coordination across the state over the next decade.

The strategic plan is built around five key pillars: security, governance, economic development, human capital development, and environment/sanitation.

It is expected to enhance critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, nutrition, education, social development, infrastructure, and governance through coordinated and measurable interventions.

Speaking at the launch, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said the new framework builds on the achievements and lessons of the recently concluded medium-term development plan 2021–2025.

Represented by Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, the governor described the document as more than a policy framework, emphasizing that it reflects the collective aspirations of the people of Adamawa State.

“This 10-year roadmap is more than a policy document; it is a people’s plan, a shared vision, and a social contract between government and the governed,” the governor said.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning Adamawa State, as a major contributor to national development.

“We are determined to move our state from the periphery to the centre of national development discourse. The Adamawa State strategic development plan is a practical expression of that commitment,” he stated.

In his remarks, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Awwal Tukur, described the plan as a collective blueprint for transformation, developed through extensive stakeholder consultations and evidence-based analysis.

According to him, the strategy places a strong emphasis on improving the quality of life of citizens and ensuring sustainable development across the state.

He urged stakeholders, development partners, and residents to support implementation efforts to guarantee the successful delivery of the plan’s objectives.

Also speaking, Mary Paninga, Executive Chairperson of the State Planning Commission, commended the administration for its leadership and vision, noting that its commitment made the formulation of the strategic document possible.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of Oxfam Novib, Elijah Joshua called on government authorities to adhere strictly to the implementation framework to ensure the achievement of the plan’s intended outcomes.

The launch of the strategic development plan marks a significant milestone in Adamawa state’s efforts to institutionalize long-term planning and strengthen sustainable development across key sectors.
