Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has expressed strong confidence in the electoral prospects of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the June 20, 2026, governorship election in Ekiti State, declaring that the party is working towards delivering a resounding victory for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Speaking during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council in Abuja, the senator said the ruling party is targeting an unprecedented electoral margin of over 500,000 votes, citing the governor’s performance and the party’s widespread acceptance among the people of Ekiti State.

Joel-Onowakpo noted that the composition of the campaign council, which includes prominent party leaders, governors, lawmakers and stakeholders from across the country, underscores the APC’s commitment to retaining power in the state and consolidating its political dominance.

According to him, the party’s campaign strategy will focus on grassroots mobilization, sustained voter engagement and highlighting the achievements recorded by the Oyebanji administration in key sectors of the state’s economy.

He maintained that Governor Oyebanji’s achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery and social welfare programmes have earned him the confidence and support of the electorate, positioning him for a convincing re-election victory.

The senator further stated that the APC remains united, focused and fully prepared for the governorship contest, expressing optimism that voters will reward the governor’s performance with an overwhelming mandate at the polls.

The inauguration ceremony attracted several high-profile APC leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, and Uba Sani, alongside other governors, members of the National Assembly and party stakeholders.

Party leaders at the event reaffirmed their commitment to securing victory for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, describing the election as crucial to strengthening the APC’s position in the state and beyond.
