The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a homicide investigation into the incident.

Authorities said the case is being treated as a possible targeted attack while investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

No arrests have been confirmed at the time of filing this report.

In a statement, the family confirmed the death of Talay Riley and described the loss as devastating.

They said he was a gifted musician whose career spanned more than a decade in the UK R&B and pop music scene, noting his creativity, warmth, and impact on those around him.

The family also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support received from fans, colleagues, and the public since news of his death emerged.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the UK music industry following the tragic incident.

Stormzy and Craig David were among prominent artists who publicly mourned the late singer.

Riley’s brother, music producer Scribz Riley, also paid an emotional tribute, describing him as a mentor, inspiration, and “a light in so many people’s lives.”

He revealed that they had spoken just hours before the incident, describing the loss as deeply painful and difficult to comprehend.

Talay Riley, who began his music journey at a young age, secured a publishing deal in his teens before later signing with Jive/Sony Records after featuring on Chipmunk’s 2009 hit single.

He went on to build a career as both a singer and songwriter in the UK R&B and pop music scene, earning recognition for his versatility and songwriting ability.

Following the announcement of his death, fans and colleagues have taken to social media to express shock and grief.

Many described him as talented, humble, and influential in shaping elements of modern UK R&B music.

The family has requested privacy as they mourn their loss, while thanking the public for their support and messages of condolence.
