The Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has issued a public security advisory to RESIDENTS OF IBEJU LEKKI, assuring them that security agencies are actively monitoring recent developments following reports of the arrival of certain groups of persons in parts of the local government area.

Key Highlights:

  • Ibeju-Lekki Local Government issues security advisory to residents
  • Authorities monitoring reports of new arrivals in some communities
  • State and local security agencies actively engaged
  • Residents urged to report suspicious activities promptly
  • Government warns against harassment, profiling, or taking the law into private hands
  • Chairman assures residents of continued peace and security measures

In a statement addressed to residents, Olowa said the local government had taken concerns raised by community members seriously and immediately engaged relevant security agencies to assess the situation.

According to the chairman, security authorities at both state and local levels are fully aware of the developments and have already activated intelligence-gathering and security measures aimed at preserving peace and stability across Ibeju-Lekki communities.

“As an administration that places the safety and security of our people above all else, we have taken these concerns seriously and immediately engaged the relevant security agencies,” Olowa stated.

He noted that the government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, particularly at a time when security challenges continue to affect various parts of the country.

The chairman urged residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts by reporting suspicious movements, unusual activities, or security concerns through the appropriate channels.

However, he cautioned against any form of self-help, warning that residents should not take the law into their own hands.

“No individual or group should be subjected to harassment, intimidation, profiling, or any form of unlawful treatment,” he said.

Olowa stressed that security matters should be left to duly authorised agencies with the legal mandate and capacity to investigate and address potential threats.

He further encouraged residents to remain calm and continue with their daily activities while upholding the values of peace, tolerance, and lawful conduct that have long defined the Ibeju-Lekki community.

The chairman reassured the public that the local government would continue working closely with security agencies to ensure the safety of all residents.

“Be assured that your government remains vigilant and fully committed to the safety and security of all residents,” he added.

The advisory comes amid heightened public sensitivity to security matters nationwide and reflects ongoing efforts by local authorities to maintain peace and public confidence within one of Lagos State’s fastest-growing economic corridors.
