NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the injured officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were attacked while participating in a raid on a notorious drug joint in Dawaki on May 15, 2026.

Marwa, during the visit on Monday, sympathised with the officers and assured them of the agency’s full support throughout their treatment and recovery.

He said the NDLEA would ensure they receive adequate medical care until they fully recover and return to active duty.

“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice.

“An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa said.

The NDLEA boss commended the officers for what he described as their bravery, dedication to duty, and professionalism during the operation.

He noted that their sacrifices in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking remained invaluable to the country.

As part of efforts to boost their morale, Marwa presented the officers with official letters of commendation personally signed by him, alongside other support packages aimed at aiding their recovery.

He also praised the agency’s medical personnel and officials of the National Hospital for their prompt intervention and care, which, according to him, helped stabilise the injured officers.

Marwa reiterated the agency’s commitment to intensifying the fight against illicit drugs and criminal networks across the country, despite threats and attacks from criminal elements.
