The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 279 results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that were earlier withheld for investigation over suspected examination malpractice.

The board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the development on Thursday in a post shared on X.

Key Highlights:

  • The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board released 279 previously withheld 2026 UTME results after investigations into suspected malpractice.
  • Fabian Benjamin said some results were cleared because no evidence was found against the candidates.
  • Results linked to confirmed examination malpractice were cancelled by the board.
  • Some examination centres remain under investigation due to suspicious activities reported during the UTME.
  • Candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using their registered phone numbers.

According to Benjamin, the newly released results are part of cases reviewed after candidates were initially flagged during the examination process.

He explained that while some results were cancelled after investigations confirmed malpractice, others were cleared after the board found no evidence implicating the affected candidates.

“While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates,” he stated.

Benjamin added that results from certain examination centres remain under investigation following reports of suspicious activities observed by JAMB’s monitoring teams.

“Results from centres where the Board’s live monitoring team observed suspicious activities, or where adverse reports were received, remain withheld pending further investigation. Where sufficient evidence of culpability is established, such results will be cancelled,” he said.

The board advised candidates who are yet to access their results to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number linked to their UTME registration.

The 2026 UTME was conducted between April 16 and April 25 at accredited Computer-Based Test centres across the country.
