Mohammed Bello El-Rufai has broken his silence over the continued detention of his father, Nasir El-Rufai, declaring that the family is not intimidated by the situation.

Speaking to journalists, Mohammed stated that the El-Rufai family “fears no one and nothing” amid reports that the former governor remains in custody despite allegedly being granted bail.

According to him, anyone responsible for his father’s continued detention should be worried about the consequences if anything happens to the former governor.

“We, the El-Rufais, fear no one and nothing,” he said.

He further warned that the family would not stay silent over the matter, insisting that pressure or intimidation would not force them to back down.

“If anything happens to my father, Nasir El-Rufai, those behind his continued detention despite being granted bail should be the ones living in fear,” he added.

El-Rufai was initially arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 16, 2026, after honoring an invitation regarding alleged corruption and money laundering linked to his time as governor of Kaduna State.

The allegations reportedly involve the diversion of N432 billion and alleged abuse of office during his administration.

Although he was reportedly granted bail by the EFCC on February 18, 2026, he was later re-arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) over ongoing investigations.

He is also facing separate allegations from the Department of State Services (DSS) related to alleged unlawful interception of communications and cybercrime offences.
