A senatorial aspirant under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Alexander Akpodiete, has visited the family of the late Oghenemine Ogidi, expressing sympathy and renewing his demand for justice over the young man’s death.
The visit, which was not previously scheduled, saw Prof. Akpodiete received by the deceased’s elder brother, Mr. Victory Ogidi, who welcomed him on behalf of the family.

Prof. Akpodiete noted that his visit was driven by both compassion and a sense of responsibility, assuring the family that calls for justice would be sustained.
“I am here to stand with this family in their time of grief and to let them know they are not alone,” he said.
“This loss is deeply painful, and it is important that we do not ignore the circumstances surrounding it.”
He stressed that accountability must be pursued, adding that the situation demands transparency from relevant authorities.
“Justice must be served. The family, the Urhobo people, and indeed, Nigerians deserve clarity on what truly happened,” he stated.

While acknowledging the emotions surrounding the incident, Prof. Akpodiete urged young people in the area to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
“We must remain calm and allow due process to take its course. Resorting to violence will not solve the problem,” he cautioned.
In his remarks, Victory Ogidi thanked the visiting politician for his support, saying the gesture had reassured the family that their demand for justice was gaining wider attention.
Prof. Akpodiete was accompanied by party stakeholders, including the NDC Women Leader for Ughelli North Ward 2/6, Mrs. Emonena Owhe, Mrs. Franca, and other loyalists.
