The Africa Women Conference (AWC) has warmly congratulated Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi on her appointment as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement signed by the Convener of the Conference, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, the organization, also felicitated with Princess Joan Jummai Idonije on her appointment as chairman of the governing council of the centre.
The body described the appointments as a recognition of competence, dedication, and years of commitment to the advancement of women and national development.
It noted that both appointees have consistently demonstrated passion for inclusive leadership, women empowerment, mentorship, and social transformation.
According to the statement, the appointments are particularly significant because the two women have remained committed advocates and supporters of the Africa Women Conference initiative, which promotes women’s participation in governance, entrepreneurship, policy development, and sustainable development across the continent.

The group further commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her steadfast commitment to promoting capable women into strategic leadership positions, describing her efforts as instrumental to the continued progress of women-focused institutions in Nigeria.
The statement also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for sustaining policies and actions that encourage gender inclusion, women representation, and national development through purposeful leadership appointments.
AWC expressed confidence that the new leadership of the centre would introduce progressive ideas, strengthen institutional capacity, foster strategic collaborations, and implement impactful programmes that would improve the lives of women, children, families, and vulnerable groups across the country.
It prayed for wisdom, strength, and success for the newly appointed director-general, chairman, and members of the governing council as they undertake the responsibility of advancing the centre’s mandate
