Phil Foden is on the verge of committing his future to Manchester City after reaching an agreement in principle over a new four-year contract extension.
The deal will keep the 25-year-old at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, with an option for a further year, reinforcing the club’s long-term faith in the midfielder despite a challenging run of form in recent months.
Foden, who has not found the net since December, has faced increased competition for places under manager Pep Guardiola, but the new agreement signals a clear commitment from both player and club to continue their successful partnership.

Since making his debut as a teenager, Foden has become a central figure in City’s dominance, racking up 365 appearances and winning multiple major honours, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Former England captain Wayne Rooney has backed the midfielder to remain a key figure, insisting a player of his quality should be a regular starter despite recent struggles.
With the World Cup approaching, Foden will also be eager to secure his place in England national football team manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad, having been warned that selection is not guaranteed.
City, meanwhile, remain in the Premier League title race, trailing leaders Arsenal, with Foden hoping to rediscover his best form at a crucial stage of the season.
